Wildlife

Wild Caves

2002, brought me many new and exciting things. Nothing, however, from that year, even comes close to going into my first wild caves.

Wild caves are caves that are still in their natural state, free from the commercial trappings. Although one does find, trash and spray paint on the walls, for the most part they are in a natural state.

Mark Starr and I went to 2 different caves, while I was in Kentucky. One was pretty tough to get into. The other was easy. The easy one showed the most trash and spray paint. The harder one lacked that stuff, for the most part, simply because it is tougher to get into.

Being underground for 6 hrs, has a sobering effect on a person. You are well out of your natural environment and your body starts to realize this rather quickly. You know in the back of your mind, that if you lose your light or your way, more than likely you will die in there and nothing humbles the human like his possible demise.

Below are a few pictures taken from these two treasures.
